Gwangju Special City Operates a “Public Proposal Platform” for the Future Development of the Southwestern Region

【Financial News Jeonnam-Gwangju = Reporter Hwang Tae-jong】 Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Special City) is operating a “Public Proposal Platform” to work with the public to identify future development strategies for the southwestern region.
 The initiative aims to identify development strategies that will help the southwestern region, including Mokpo, take another leap forward. Anyone may freely submit proposals in areas including expanding healthcare infrastructure, strengthening university competitiveness, industry, tourism, and social overhead capital (SOC).
 Proposals can be submitted through the Gwangju Special City website or the government’s “Communication Innovation 24” platform. Participants may also scan the government QR code on the promotional poster to submit a proposal directly.
 The proposal process has been streamlined so that people can participate easily without registering as members, by entering only the minimum necessary personal information.
 Gwangju Special City plans to select 10 outstanding proposals following reviews by the relevant departments and experts in each field, and award proposers prize money of up to 2 million won.
 It also plans to have the Southwestern Region Development Strategy TF and experts in each field review and refine the proposals received, turning them into concrete policies so that the public’s diverse ideas and proposals lead to substantive policy outcomes.
 Son Myeong-do, Gwangju Special City’s policy planning officer, said, “We expect the public’s valuable ideas to come together and serve as the starting point for changes that will transform the future of the southwestern region.” He added, “We encourage you to actively submit fresh ideas for the southwestern region’s new leap forward, from healthcare and universities to industry and tourism.”
