NVIDIA Corporation Plans Australian Data Center Expansion, More Than Doubling AI Capacity by 2027

[Financial News] NVIDIA Corporation, a company known for its semiconductors for artificial intelligence (AI), has officially announced plans to expand its data centers in partnership with Australian companies, more than doubling its computing capacity.
Foreign media reported on the 10th (local time) that NVIDIA Corporation is working with major Australian cloud and data-center companies, including Firmus Technologies, CDC Data Centres (CDC), NEXTDC, and AirTrunk, with the goal of building up to 2 gigawatts (GW) of AI-related computing capacity by 2027.
The announcement comes as Australia is emerging as a key hub for global data-center investment while facing calls for tighter regulation over environmental pollution and substantial power and water consumption.
According to a report released by the lobbying group Data Centre Australia, citing research by DC Byte, Australia’s current computing capacity stands at approximately 1.6 GW.
NVIDIA Corporation said the capacity expansion would actively support surging demand for AI in Australia. The data centers operated by its local partners will be built on the NVIDIA DSX Platform.
NVIDIA Corporation said in a statement, "Demand for high-performance computing is rising sharply as AI adoption expands across all industries." It added, "By expanding infrastructure in Australia, we will help local innovators develop models, applications, and AI agents domestically, while also supporting additional power-generation projects to meet regional and global demand for AI computing."
