Singapore Ranks First Among Southeast Asian Countries in World Happiness Index, Followed by Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines

【JAKARTA, Indonesia—Aulia Maulida Hamdani, Correspondent】Singapore ranked highest among Southeast Asian countries in the 2026 World Happiness Report.
According to data released on the 10th by Cia Asia Stats, a digital media platform that provides statistics and rankings, Singapore ranked 36th globally with a score of 6.585 in the 2026 World Happiness Report, the highest among Southeast Asian countries. Based on the Gallup World Poll, the report measured happiness by examining how people in 147 countries evaluate their lives. It also analyzed the effects of social connections, trust and social media on life satisfaction.
Vietnam followed Singapore with a score of 6.428, ranking second in Southeast Asia and 45th globally. Thailand ranked third in Southeast Asia and 52nd globally with a score of 6.296. The Philippines ranked fourth and 56th globally with 6.206 points, while Malaysia ranked fifth and 71st globally with 6.005 points, placing both among the higher-ranking Southeast Asian countries.
Indonesia ranked sixth in Southeast Asia and 87th globally with a score of 5.617. Laos recorded 5.515 points, ranking seventh in Southeast Asia and 92nd globally, while Cambodia scored 4.462 points to rank eighth and 121st globally. Myanmar ranked last among the nine Southeast Asian countries, with 4.287 points, placing ninth regionally and 129th worldwide.
The findings also show that a country’s happiness is not determined solely by the size or growth of its economy. The World Happiness Report analyzes that various factors—including income, social support, health, personal freedom and trust in society—affect individuals’ assessments of their life satisfaction.
