'Strengthening Cardiovascular Interventional Capabilities'... Chonnam National University Hospital Introduces State-of-the-Art Fluoroscopy and Angiography Equipment and Improves Facilities

【Financial News, South Jeolla and Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong】 Chonnam National University Hospital introduced state-of-the-art cardiac fluoroscopy and angiography equipment and improved its procedure environment to strengthen its capabilities in the precise diagnosis and interventional treatment of cardiovascular disease.
 According to Chonnam National University Hospital on the 10th, the hospital held a ceremony the previous day at the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory on the sixth floor of Building 7 to mark the reopening of Procedure Room 2 following the installation of state-of-the-art fluoroscopy and angiography equipment and improvements to the facility. The event was attended by key hospital officials, including Hospital Director Jeong Sin, Administrative Director Shim Joong-sik, Planning and Coordination Office Director Joo Sung-pil, and Nursing Director Choi Ok-ja, as well as cardiovascular center staff, including cardiology professors Ahn Young-geun, Ju Han Kim, Hong Young-jun, Kim Gye-hoon, Yoon Nam-sik, and Shim Doo-sun.
 Hospital Director Jeong Sin emphasized, "Because the rapid and accurate diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease directly affect a patient's prognosis, it is important to have the latest medical equipment and a safe procedure environment. With the reopening of Procedure Room 2, we will do our utmost to further enhance the Cardiovascular Center's clinical capabilities and ensure that patients with severe cardiovascular disease in the region receive safer, high-quality treatment."
 The state-of-the-art fluoroscopy and angiography system newly introduced by Chonnam National University Hospital, the Philips Azurion 7 M12, uses a 12-inch flat detector to provide a wide field of view for precise examination of coronary arteries, microvessels, and stents. Its low-dose ClarityIQ technology also produces high-quality images at a lower radiation dose, helping reduce radiation exposure for patients and medical staff.
 In particular, the system is expected to improve the accuracy of complex cardiovascular interventional procedures by enabling real-time assessment of stent expansion and the creation of vascular maps. An integrated touchscreen allows equipment operation and image analysis beside the procedure table, improving convenience and efficiency during procedures.
 Chonnam National University Hospital also improved the interior environment of the procedure room. Equipment placement and workspaces were ergonomically arranged to enhance the medical staff's procedural efficiency. Interior maintenance, reinforced shielding facilities, and indirect lighting have created a more comfortable clinical environment.
 Hong Young-jun, director of the Cardiovascular Center, stated, "The introduction of state-of-the-art fluoroscopy and angiography equipment has established a foundation for improving the precision and safety of cardiovascular interventional procedures. We will continue to strengthen our capabilities in providing definitive treatment for complex cardiovascular diseases and further develop our clinical system so that patients can receive treatment more quickly."
 Meanwhile, the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Chonnam National University Hospital performs approximately 2,000 coronary interventions annually. With the reopening of Procedure Room 2, the hospital has established a clinical system with a total of five procedure rooms. This is expected to further strengthen the region's capabilities in treating cardiovascular diseases, including complex cardiovascular interventional procedures.
