Public-Private Joint Committee Launched for Social Solidarity Economy Expo, with 37 Institutions Participating

[Financial News]  A public-private joint organizing committee involving 37 institutions—including the central government, local governments, public institutions, and social solidarity economy organizations—will be launched. The committee will jointly coordinate the program and institutional roles for the 8th Korea Social Solidarity Economy Expo and International Conference, which will be held at KINTEX in Gyeonggi Province’s Goyang City this November. As the first expo since the enactment of the Framework Act on Social Solidarity Economy, the event will be prepared jointly by the government and organizations in the field from the initial planning stage.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) announced on the 10th that it held the launch ceremony and first meeting of the public-private joint organizing committee for the 8th Korea Social Solidarity Economy Expo and International Conference at the Government Complex Sejong. The expo will take place at KINTEX from November 27 to 29.
The committee includes 37 institutions, including MOIS, the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Ministry of Planning and Budget, as well as Gyeonggi Province, Goyang City, public institutions affiliated with the government, organizations and support agencies related to the social solidarity economy, and academic institutions.
The committee will review the master plans and implementation plans for the expo and International Conference, while coordinating institutional roles and areas of cooperation. After the event, it will identify areas for improvement through a performance evaluation and reflect them in the operation of future expos. The first meeting addressed the event’s master plan, the formation and operation of subcommittees, and the schedule ahead.
This year’s expo will be jointly hosted by MOIS, Gyeonggi Province, Goyang City, and the institutions participating in the organizing committee. It will be jointly organized by MOIS, Gyeonggi Province, Goyang City, and the Gyeonggi Social Economy Institute. The event slogan is “Social solidarity economy in everyday life for a sustainable future.”
During the event, programs will include an International Conference sharing domestic and international cases of the social solidarity economy, a university student social solidarity economy impact competition, a youth ideas competition, a roundtable on solving social problems, and an awards ceremony. An exhibition hall showcasing social solidarity economy policies and field cases will also be operated.
Jin Myeong-gi, Director of the Local Autonomy and Innovation Office at MOIS, said, “This is the first expo to be held since the Ministry of the Interior and Safety was designated as the ministry responsible for overseeing social solidarity economy policy last October and since the enactment of the Framework Act on Social Solidarity Economy. We will pool the capabilities of relevant institutions and organizations in the field to prepare a substantive event.”
