President Lee’s Approval Rating Falls 7 Points in Two Weeks to 43%, Lowest Since Inauguration [NBS]

[Financial News] A poll released on July 10 found that positive evaluations of President Lee Jae Myung’s handling of state affairs had fallen to 43%, the lowest level since he took office.
According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS), conducted from July 7 to 9 among 1,002 South Koreans aged 18 or older by Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research International and Hankook Research, 43% of respondents viewed President Lee’s handling of state affairs positively. This was down 7 percentage points from the previous survey conducted two weeks earlier.
Negative evaluations stood at 48%, up 5 percentage points from the previous survey.
In the survey on party support, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 39% and the People Power Party 25%. Support for the Democratic Party of Korea fell 2 percentage points from the previous poll, while support for the People Power Party rose 5 percentage points.
Support for the Rebuilding Korea Party (RKP) stood at 3%, while the Reform Party and Progressive Party each recorded 1%. The share of respondents who said they had no party affiliation or answered “don’t know” or “no response” was 30%.
The survey was conducted through telephone interviews using mobile phone virtual numbers, which accounted for 100% of the sample. The margin of error was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 15.4%.
