SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) announced on the 10th that it held a launch ceremony for the 'AI for Everyone Consortium' at SKT Building in Jung District, Seoul on the 9th. The companies and institutions participating in the consortium shared the direction of business development and their respective roles, and agreed to begin full-scale cooperation.
SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) categorized eight sectors—finance and payment, small business, public and healthcare, care and welfare, investment and venture, education and future generations, AI technology and security, and lifestyle—and formed consortia with specialized companies and institutions in each field. The goal is to implement services that users can experience by connecting the services of different companies into a single AI experience.
"Forming a Dream Team for 'AI for Everyone'"
In his welcoming remarks at the launch ceremony, Kyungsang Yu, Head of SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT)'s AI CIC, described the consortium as a "dream team" and stated, "The selection for this 'AI for Everyone' project is the result of the collective capabilities of all participating companies and institutions, not just SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) alone." He continued, "While each participating company may have different business areas and perspectives, if we join forces toward a common goal, we can produce meaningful results that the public can experience," emphasizing, "I want to properly build an AI ecosystem used by the entire nation that is unlike anything else in the world."
SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) oversees the consortium project and assumes the role of 'AI Orchestrator,' responsible for AI models, platforms, and overall service operations. By leveraging its full-stack AI capabilities—encompassing services, models, and infrastructure—along with its telecommunications network and online and offline customer touchpoints, it connects the specialized services of each participating company to meet user requests.
Specifically, when a user request is received, the situation is first analyzed, and an AI model suitable for the task is selected. Subsequently, by integrating the technologies and services of participating companies in the relevant field, support is provided to ensure that the process goes beyond merely providing information and leads to actual necessary measures.
"The goal of an agent to execute everything from situation-appropriate responses to follow-ups"
Kim Ji-hoon, Head of SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT)'s AI Business Division, explained, "AI for Everyone aims to be an 'end-to-end execution agent' that not only listens to the user and delivers necessary information first, but also perfectly performs responses tailored to the user's situation and takes necessary follow-up measures." He added, "Based on the largest partnership in the country, we will strive to successfully introduce a representative AI service that goes beyond simple chatbots to assist the daily lives of the public."
SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) expects that once the service is implemented, the process of users directly searching for and selecting AI models or individual services suitable for their purposes will be reduced. The core idea is to enable the handling of various tasks that occur repeatedly in daily life, such as mobility, content, finance, education, and health, through a single point of contact.
We are also developing AI services tailored to the specific characteristics of each user. We plan to go beyond simply providing the same service to all users and expand our services to offer specialized AI experiences tailored to the needs of specific demographics, such as the elderly, youth, and small business owners.
An SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT) official stated, "Together with the consortium participating companies, we will create an AI ecosystem used by the entire nation that is unparalleled anywhere in the world," adding, "As the lead company, we will do our utmost to ensure that the capabilities of each company are realized as a single service."
