[Financial News] The Citi Foundation will provide a total of $25 million to nonprofit organizations to help young people worldwide develop the skills needed in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Citibank Korea on the 10th, the Citi Foundation is holding the fourth Global Innovation Challenge.
Launched in 2023, the Global Innovation Challenge is a global social impact program through which the Citi Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in identifying new solutions to major social problems facing the world and driving positive change.
Through this initiative, the Citi Foundation plans to select 50 nonprofit organizations worldwide and provide each with $500,000, for a total of $25 million. In Korea, Habitat for Humanity Korea and JA Korea have been selected as participating organizations in the Global Innovation Challenge and are carrying out related activities.
The Citi Foundation plans to support nonprofit organizations working in four areas: strengthening AI and future skills, expanding job opportunities, enhancing existing programs, and expanding partnerships.
Organizations wishing to participate in this year’s Global Innovation Challenge must submit a letter of intent by 1 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7. The final recipients are scheduled to be announced in 2027.
Brandee McHale, president of the Citi Foundation, said, "As technology rapidly transforms the future job landscape, young people—particularly those from low-income communities—are facing both significant challenges and new opportunities. The ability to understand and use AI will play an important role in seizing these opportunities. Through this Global Innovation Challenge, the Citi Foundation will help young people develop AI skills and the capabilities they need for the future, enabling them to grow into the next generation of innovators and leaders."
