[Financial News] Coupang has been recognized for its social contribution activities aimed at supporting local communities, including assistance for medically underserved areas and disaster relief.
According to industry sources on the 10th, Coupang’s Social Contribution Division received the Social Contribution Achievement Grand Prize—the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee Chairperson’s Award—at the appointment ceremony and awards ceremony for the organizing committee of the 2026 10th Youth Day Festival, held the previous day at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building in Yeouido, Seoul.
The Social Contribution Achievement Grand Prize is presented to companies, organizations, and individuals selected for contributing to social development and improving quality of life through social contribution activities in commemoration of Youth Day Festival.
This year, through ‘Coupang Neighborhood Care,’ which directly visits areas with inadequate medical infrastructure, Coupang provided health screenings and other medical services to about 1,700 residents in Jangsu County, North Jeolla Province; Danyang County, North Chungcheong Province; Yeongdeok County; and Haenam County, South Jeolla Province.
Coupang Neighborhood Care is a program in which medical professionals visit communities directly, helping residents receive necessary medical services nearby. Coupang plans to continue providing medical volunteer services, focusing on areas with limited access to healthcare.
Coupang is also continuing community partnership activities that reflect the characteristics of each region. Through its logistics infrastructure and ‘Emergency Relief Hope Boxes,’ Coupang delivered a total of 300 sets of relief supplies to Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Geoje City, South Gyeongsang Province, which were affected by torrential rains this year. In Sinan County, it provided a vehicle to transport supplies needed for hair and beauty services for island residents with limited access to daily-life services.
Coupang is also providing support for future generations and local small and medium-sized businesses. Last year, through ‘Coupang Santa,’ in which children at childcare facilities selected the gifts they wanted and Coupang delivered them, the company sent Christmas gifts to 941 children at 24 facilities nationwide. This year, it is operating the ‘Digital Jump-Up Academy’ for 100 small and medium-sized businesses in the Yeongnam and Honam regions, supporting the development of digital capabilities such as online sales and digital marketing.
A representative of Coupang’s Social Contribution Division said, "This award is the result of many people joining forces after working together with local communities in the field. We will continue to listen closely to the voices of local communities and pursue social contribution activities alongside them."
