Air Busan to Operate Temporary Busan–Kagoshima Flights Three Times a Week Starting on the 25th of Next Month

[Financial News] Air Busan announced on the 10th that it will operate temporary flights between Busan and Kagoshima three times a week—on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays—from the 25th of next month.
The flight between Busan and Kagoshima takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Passengers on the temporary service will depart Gimhae International Airport at 3:55 p.m. and arrive at Kagoshima Airport at 5:15 p.m. the same day. The return flight will depart the local airport at 6:35 p.m. and arrive at Gimhae International Airport at 7:55 p.m.
Kagoshima is a major tourist destination in southern Kyushu, Japan. It is known for Sakurajima, a majestic active volcano, and its globally rare black-sand hot-sand baths. Yakushima, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and the setting for the animated film Princess Mononoke, is also located there. The region also offers diverse tourism infrastructure, including hot springs and golf courses.

Air Busan has been actively developing routes to smaller Japanese cities this year. It has operated routes to Shizuoka Prefecture and Takamatsu since March, while continuing to introduce seasonal temporary services to destinations such as Toyama and Nagasaki. As a result, the total number of flights on Air Busan’s Japan routes departing from Busan increased by approximately 10% from January through August this year compared with the same period last year, while the number of passengers rose by approximately 12%.
An Air Busan representative said, "Kagoshima has seen strong travel demand thanks to its mild weather year-round and excellent tourism resources." The representative added, "Direct flights from Busan have been limited until now. We expect continued service throughout the winter season to significantly improve local residents’ travel convenience and their choice of schedules."
