Floor Leader Han made these remarks during a policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea today, stating, "The People Power Party is ignoring the achievements of President Lee's overseas trip and is criticizing it as 'selfie diplomacy' by clinging to a single photo taken with filmmakers."
Regarding the People Power Party's criticism of President Lee, he called it "low-level political strife that disparages national dignity and national interests," stating, "There can be no distinction between the ruling and opposition parties when it comes to diplomacy and national interests. The Democratic Party of Korea will provide full support through legislation and the budget to ensure that the results of the cooperation agreed upon by Korea and France are properly realized as new opportunities for our businesses and youth."
Previously, President Lee and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed to invest approximately 1.6 trillion KRW in the film and video industry over five years starting in 2027 through the Lumière Partnership. In addition, they signed 16 agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) covering areas such as defense, security, and advanced technology.
