‘Mobile Immigration Service’ to Continue in the Second Half of the Year, Targeting 7,000 International Students in Busan

[Financial News] The Busan Immigration and Foreigners Office is expanding its ‘mobile immigration service’ ahead of the upcoming fall semester to support the stable early settlement of international students in the region.
Starting with 400 international students at Pusan National University on the 11th, the Busan Immigration and Foreigners Office will operate the mobile immigration service at 21 universities in its jurisdiction at least 25 times, it said on the 10th. Following Pusan National University, the service will target about 7,000 international students, including about 270 at Silla University on the 18th, about 240 at Dong-Eui University on the 22nd, about 500 at Dong-A University on the 28th, and about 300 at Dongseo University on the 29th.
In particular, during the second half of this year, the service is expected to become more convenient and accessible by using the ‘Study Busan Hub’ on the second floor of the National Pension Service’s Busan building in Yeonje-gu, rather than university campuses, at the request of universities.
The service involves the Busan Immigration and Foreigners Office visiting major universities and international student support centers in Busan to process group fingerprint registrations for international students. It was established to prevent delays in issuing alien registration cards caused by the concentration of international student arrivals in March and September each year. In particular, the number of arrivals in the second half of this year is expected to increase by at least 1.5 times compared with the first half, due to graduates of overseas summer semesters and students enrolled in foreign-language training programs.
The Busan Immigration and Foreigners Office made 19 visits to universities during the first half of this year to register newly arrived students among the 24,921 international students in Busan, receiving a strong response. It completed the on-site collection of fingerprints from 5,585 students, or 85.59% of all international students registered as groups.
