[Financial News] The Gyeryong Scholarship Foundation held an architectural ideas competition and selected 20 finalist teams.
According to Gyeryong Construction on the 10th, the foundation held the awards ceremony for the 7th Gyeryong Scholarship Foundation Architectural Ideas Competition at Gyeryong Construction's headquarters on the 9th.
About 70 people attended the ceremony, including board members of the Gyeryong Scholarship Foundation, competition mentor Hyunjoon Yoo, and 50 winners.
The competition selected 20 finalist teams after first- and second-round evaluations by a judging panel composed of internal and external experts. The grand prize winner received 7 million won, while the total prize money amounted to 18.5 million won.
A Final Critique program was also held for the top-winning entries. Participants shared different approaches and ideas on the same topic and exchanged views on their work.
Various programs were also arranged to encourage interaction among participants, including an exhibition of the winning entries, a flower welcome zone, a photo zone, catering, and a postcard event.
The competition ran for about four months from May 18 under the theme "Three-dimensional functional conversion of underused commercial spaces and their conversion into residential spaces," with about 200 students participating.
The grand prize went to Kim, Jin Seok of the Department of Interior Environmental Design at Pusan National University, a member of the Annyeong Gyeryong team. Kim, Jin Seok said, "It was a meaningful time because I was able to independently reflect on the urban and architectural issues facing society and seek alternatives." Kim, Jin Seok added, "Based on what I learned through this competition, I will continue to grow into an architect who can have a positive impact on society."
A Gyeryong Scholarship Foundation representative said, "Seeing works that incorporated each creator's own logic and philosophy amid the changes of the times allowed us to feel the limitless potential of young people." The representative added, "We hope that the efforts and experiences of the past four months will serve as a strong foundation as they move toward their dreams."
The Gyeryong Scholarship Foundation Ideas Competition was established to help students explore architectural solutions based on their own philosophies and creative perspectives and to consider the future of architecture together.
