[Financial News] North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un paid tribute to the North Korean troops deployed to Russia on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the regime (September 9).
Chairman Kim made these remarks at the flag-raising ceremony and central oath-taking gathering held at the Pyongyang Assembly Hall on the 9th to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
In his speech, Chairman Kim mentioned the troops dispatched to Russia, saying he also expressed "special gratitude and profound respect to the commanders and soldiers of our military participating in overseas military operations."
He continued, "Thanks to the patriotism, conscious efforts, and dedicated contributions of all citizens who wish for the prosperity of the nation, the realization of our ideals is rapidly approaching, and our fighting power to advance toward it is also increasing exponentially."
At the event, honor guards of the People's Army raised the national flag while party, government, and military officials, including Chairman Kim and members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, watched.
Officials, including Chairman Kim, held red scarves in their hands and took an oath pledging loyalty to the socialist system and regime.
On the previous day, an art performance commemorating the founding of the regime was held in front of the Pyongyang Assembly Hall, and members of the Party Politburo Standing Committee, party and government officials, labor innovators, and meritorious individuals watched it. Chairman Kim did not attend the celebratory performance.
Rodong Sinmun reported that flag-raising ceremonies were held across the country, and residents visited martyrs' cemeteries and memorial towers in various locations, including Mansu Hill, the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery, and the Cemetery of Martyrs of the Fatherland Liberation War, to lay wreaths.
In Pyongyang, various performances took place in different districts, including a concert by the National Symphony Orchestra and a circus performance by the National Acrobatic Troupe, and on the 9th, a dance by the Socialist Women's Union (Women's Union) was held at the Arch of Triumph Square.
In addition to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who were reported earlier, congratulatory messages from heads of state of various countries followed.
Rodong Sinmun reported that Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf, and Swiss President Guy Parmelin sent congratulatory messages to Chairman Kim Jong Un on the occasion of the September 9 holiday.
