Samsung Electronics Expands Specialized EHS Heat Pump Training to Target Electric Heating and Cooling Market

[Financial News] Samsung Electronics is accelerating its efforts to target the domestic electric heating and cooling market by expanding specialized EHS heat pump training and service infrastructure.
Samsung Electronics said on the 10th that it had established a dedicated EHS heat pump training center at its CS Academy in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, and would provide specialized training for business-to-business (B2B) partners and installation engineers.
An EHS heat pump is an integrated solution that uses air heat and electricity to provide cooling, heating, and hot water. Because actual performance depends not only on product efficiency but also on water-piping systems suited to residential environments and maintenance capabilities, a specialized installation and service system is essential.
The dedicated training center is equipped with an environment similar to actual installation sites, including a water tank and hot-water control kit, a floor-heating hot-water distributor, water-piping equipment, and fan coil units (FCUs). Trainees practice the entire process, from water-piping construction and product installation to commissioning and inspections using the artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart diagnostic program HASS.
Samsung Electronics’ in-house EHS specialists and external experts in boilers and water piping participate in the training. In April, Samsung Electronics also provided training on a thermal storage system that converts surplus solar power into thermal energy and stores it for about 200 installation engineers in Jeju Province.
Samsung Electronics is also strengthening its product supply base. The company has established an EHS heat pump boiler production line at the Samsung Electronics Gwangju Plant and plans to begin full-scale mass production by the end of this month.
Overseas, Samsung Electronics operates specialized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) training programs in the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom. In Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan, it has established an HVAC test lab to verify product performance and reliability in extremely cold and snowy conditions.
Domestic demonstrations are also underway. In June, Samsung Electronics installed the first EHS heat pump boiler at a detached house in Aewol-eup, Jeju Province, and is demonstrating the EHS All-in-One system, which provides cooling, heating, and hot water. At the Samsung C&T Residential Performance Research Institute in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, the company is assessing the system’s applicability to multi-unit housing.
Lim Seong-taek, vice president of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Division, said, "Heat pumps are a key solution for achieving high-efficiency, eco-friendly heating, so it is important to develop professional installation, commissioning, and service capabilities. We will continue expanding our specialized training and service infrastructure following the establishment of a domestic production base to respond to the spread of heating electrification."
