[Financial News] The BORN Korea has selected the area around Hongik University Station in Seoul as the location for the third store under its “Core Commercial District Startup Support” program.
The BORN Korea opened the Paik’s Coffee Yeonnam Forest Trail branch on the 10th as part of its core commercial district startup-support program.
Core Commercial District Startup Support is a headquarters-led shared-growth model established following discussions by the Shared-Growth Committee last year. Under the program, headquarters covers initial opening costs so franchisees can open stores more securely in major commercial districts, where high key money creates a significant initial financial burden.
The BORN Korea introduced Paik’s Coffee Sinnonhyeon Station branch as the first store in October last year, followed by the second store, Yeondon Fried Cutlet Rice Bowl Gangnam Station branch, in March. This third store is the first case of the program being applied outside the Gangnam area.
Paik’s Coffee Yeonnam Forest Trail branch is a takeout-only store located near Exit 3 of Hongik University Station and Gyeongui Line Forest Park. Situated in a mixed-use commercial district that attracts many people in their 20s and 30s as well as foreign tourists, the store benefits from heavy pedestrian traffic on both weekdays and weekends.
The BORN Korea covered the initial investment costs required to open the store, including key money and lease expenses for Paik’s Coffee Yeonnam Forest Trail branch, as well as interior work, equipment, signage and fixtures. The franchisee will operate the store without bearing separate initial investment costs, paying only expenses required for ongoing operations, such as monthly rent and maintenance fees.
A The BORN Korea official said, “We will continue to expand the foundation for franchisees and headquarters to grow together by providing practical startup support tailored to each brand’s characteristics and the suitability of each commercial district, while validating efficient store-operation models.”
