Strong Winds and Rough Seas Continue in Jeju Province; Waves Up to 5 Meters Offshore to the South

【Financial News Jeju=Reporter Jung Yong-bok】 Strong winds will continue in Jeju Province through the 10th, while waves in the southern offshore waters are expected to rise to as high as 5 meters. Coastal swell is forecast to continue through the 11th, requiring caution during navigation, fishing operations, and activities along the coast.
According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Office on the 10th, Jeju Province will see frequent clouds, with strong northeasterly to easterly winds.
In particular, very strong winds are forecast in Seongsan both in the morning and afternoon. Strong winds will also continue in Jeju Province, Seogwipo, and Gosan, while mountainous areas will likewise be affected.
Conditions at sea will be rougher. In the waters off Jeju Province, northeasterly to easterly winds will blow at 9–16 meters per second in the morning, with waves rising to 1.5–4.0 meters. In the afternoon, winds are expected to reach 9–15 meters per second, with wave heights of 1.5–3.5 meters.
In the eastern waters off Jeju Province, wave heights will rise to 2.0–4.0 meters in the morning. High waves of around 3.5 meters are also expected in the northern, southern, and western waters off the province.
Waves will be higher in the offshore waters. In the inner southeastern offshore waters and outer southern offshore waters of Jeju Province, northeasterly to easterly winds will blow at 10–18 meters per second in the morning, producing waves of 2.0–5.0 meters.
Wave heights in the inner southwestern offshore waters of Jeju Province are also expected to reach up to 4.0 meters in the morning. Although the high waves will gradually subside from the afternoon, waves of around 3 meters are expected to continue in some waters on the morning of the 11th.
The weather service urged people to remain cautious of coastal swell around Jeju Province through the 11th. Deteriorating sea conditions could also affect the operation of passenger ferries and small vessels traveling to and from Jeju Province.
On land, winds rather than rain will be the main concern. The daytime high in Jeju Province on the 10th is expected to be 26–28°C, similar to the seasonal average of 26.7–28.2°C. Temperatures are forecast to be around 27°C in Jeju Province and Seogwipo, 26°C in Seongsan, and 28°C in Gosan.
Mountainous areas will be mostly cloudy. Daytime highs will be around 24°C in Sancheondan and Hannam and 22°C in Seongpanak, lower than in coastal areas.
Weather conditions will gradually stabilize from the 11th. Jeju Province will be generally clear on the 11th and 12th, although mountainous areas will remain mostly cloudy. Morning lows are expected to be 22°C on the 11th and 22–23°C on the 12th, while daytime highs are forecast at 26–28°C and 27–28°C, respectively.
On the 13th, clouds will increase again, and mountainous areas will become overcast. Occasional rain is expected in some areas, mainly in the mountains, between noon and midnight.
The Jeju Regional Meteorological Office urged people to take precautions against strong winds, rough seas, and coastal swell, and to check the latest weather information.
