Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies Donates 100 Specialized Books on the Asian Games to Jincheon Athletes’ Village

[Financial News] The South Korean national team preparing for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games is working to strengthen its “soft power” by learning international sports norms and operational systems, in addition to undergoing physical and technical training.
Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies announced on the 9th that it had visited the Jincheon National Athletes’ Village in North Chungcheong Province and delivered 100 copies of the specialized book “Asian Games: OCA Governance and Understanding the Asian Olympics.” The donation was intended to enhance the on-site capabilities of athletes and coaches ahead of the Games.
The donated books compile practical knowledge that athletes must understand on the international stage, covering the organizational structure of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), which oversees Asian sports, the roles of international sports organizations, and regulations on anti-doping and fair play (clean sport). The donation was based on the view that athletes who clearly understand international competition rules and the event environment can reduce unnecessary mistakes both on and off the field while protecting their team’s overall competitiveness.
The book was written by faculty members of Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies, which has received official accreditation from the OCA. Park Joo-hee, who currently serves as chair of the OCA Athletes’ Commission and as an executive committee member, participated as the lead author and incorporated her firsthand experience from the international sports field into the book.
Na Chang-soon, dean of the graduate school; Professor Park Joo-hee; and Seo Young-woo, a doctoral student and silver medalist in bobsleigh at the 2018 Winter Olympics, attended the book presentation ceremony. They met with Kim Taek-soo, head of the Jincheon National Athletes’ Village, and Kang Ho-seok, president of the National Coaches’ Council, among others, and encouraged the national team.
Professor Park Joo-hee said, “The Asian Games are an important stage where countries across Asia come together, beyond competing for medals.” She added, “I hope this will be an opportunity for athletes to properly understand the history and values of the Games and develop pride in representing South Korea.”
Meanwhile, Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Asian Olympic Studies plans to continue providing education focused on international sports administration and governance, sustainability, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance), with the aim of developing professionals who will lead the global competitiveness of South Korea’s sports industry.
