[Financial News] Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong disclosed plans to purchase 7,188,793 common shares of Samsung Electronics over the counter from Hong Ra-hee, honorary director of Leeum Museum of Art and a related party.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service’s Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System (DART) on the 9th, the transaction is scheduled for the 12th of next month and will be conducted as an over-the-counter purchase. The estimated acquisition price is 269,500 won per share, calculated based on the closing price on the 8th, the business day before the report was filed.
The purpose of the transaction is the “acquisition of shares from a related party.” The shares to be purchased represent 0.11% of Samsung Electronics’ total 6,648,649,811 issued shares. Based on the previous day’s closing price, the transaction is valued at 1.9374 trillion won.
At the time the transaction plan was submitted, Lee Jae-yong held 97,551,953 shares of Samsung Electronics, representing a 1.47% ownership stake. If the transaction is completed as planned, his holdings are expected to rise to 104,740,746 shares, increasing his ownership stake to 1.58%.
However, the number of shares and acquisition price listed in the disclosure are estimated quantities and prices. Under relevant law, the transaction may differ from the plan within a range of 70% to 130% of the transaction amount, so the actual price and number of shares traded may vary.
