Broadcast Featuring Kim Jung-woo That Knocked Out an Ordinary Person; Planner Says, "There Was No Plan to Actually Injure Him"

[Financial News] YouTuber B, who planned the livestream in which mixed martial arts fighter Kim Jung-woo applied a fighting technique to an ordinary person identified as Person A, causing him to lose consciousness, has apologized. B said he did not realize that A had actually lost consciousness.
According to Sports Kyunghyang on the 9th, B discussed his relationship with A in an interview with Gray News the previous day. He said, "Person A, the ordinary person who was assaulted, had previously competed in a professional kickboxing tournament and was originally a fan who had been watching my broadcasts."
B said that some of the verbal tension between Kim Jung-woo and A had been discussed in advance. He explained, "This was something we had discussed to some extent before the broadcast began, and we agreed to stage the situation to a certain degree to make the broadcast more entertaining."
B also said the two men had been scheduled to spar afterward. He stated, "Kim Jung-woo and A were originally supposed to spar in the ring, and the idea was to stage a situation beforehand in which they appeared to argue, giving viewers a preview that 'the two of them will face off later.'"
However, he said they had not agreed in advance to cause an actual injury. B said, "We never agreed to create a situation in which someone would actually be knocked unconscious or injured. Kim Jung-woo causing A injuries severe enough to make him lose consciousness was not part of what had been agreed upon."
B also addressed the scene in which Kim Jung-woo said, "Put him to sleep," while A lay unconscious. Explaining why he and the other cast members laughed and chatted at the time, B said, "We did not realize that he had actually been knocked unconscious. We thought A was pretending to pass out as part of an exaggerated performance."
B said that after learning A had actually lost consciousness, he ended the livestream and called 119, South Korea's emergency number.
He also admitted that false information had been given to the hospital. B acknowledged, "One of the cast members falsely told the hospital that he had been injured while exercising," and explained, "We did that because if the case were registered as assault or injury, indemnity insurance might not cover it."
B also acknowledged that this response could have been perceived by the victim's family as an attempt to cover up the incident. He apologized, saying, "I understand that this behavior could have appeared to A's parents and family as an attempt to downplay or conceal what happened." He added, "If the police determine that an investigation is necessary, I intend to explain everything I know exactly as it happened."

Meanwhile, police have booked Kim Jung-woo on suspicion of causing injury and are investigating the circumstances without detaining him. They are also reportedly planning to determine whether the other performers at the scene participated in the alleged offense.
Kim Jung-woo appeared on B's broadcast on the 6th and applied a guillotine choke to A. Although A tapped to signal submission, Kim did not release the choke. A lost consciousness, collapsed, and struck the back of his head hard against the floor.
The broadcast showed that Kim Jung-woo and the other cast members did not provide immediate emergency assistance even after A lost consciousness. It also showed Kim slapping A on the cheek, saying, "Put him to sleep for a while," and laughing.
As the controversy grew, Z-FIGHT NIGHT (ZFN), the mixed martial arts organization to which Kim Jung-woo belonged, announced the termination of his contract the following day, on the 7th. ZFN said it had terminated Kim's fighter contract because it determined that he had violated the duty to maintain dignity stipulated in the fighter agreement.
Kim Jung-woo, a former wrestler, made his professional mixed martial arts debut last month through ZFN, which was founded and operated by Chan Sung Jung (The Korean Zombie). He was reportedly previously affiliated with a violent organization that had been placed under police monitoring.
