Jeju National University Appoints Seven Advisory Attorneys to Strengthen Legal Responses to Litigation and Contracts

【Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jung Yong-bok】 Jeju National University has appointed seven advisory attorneys to systematically address legal issues arising in university operations, including litigation, administrative appeals, and contracts.
According to Jeju National University on the 9th, the university held an appointment ceremony and meeting for advisory attorneys the previous day. It appointed seven attorneys: Kim Se-hui of Kim Se-hui Law Office, Kim Yong-hak of Kim Yong-hak Law Office, Oh Gun-seong of Ocean Law Firm, Lee Yong-hyeok of Lee Yong-hyeok Law Office, Jwa Hye-seon of Bangju Law Office, Choi Nak-gyun of Choi Nak-gyun Law Office, and Hong Jae-kyung of Gang Law Office.
The appointments run through August 17, 2027.
The advisory attorneys will provide counsel on legal matters arising in university operations, including litigation and administrative appeals involving JNU as a party, as well as statutory interpretation and application and reviews of various contracts.
In particular, the university handles a wide range of responsibilities, including faculty and staff personnel matters, academic administration, research funding and industry-academic cooperation, contracts, and property management. Because the relevant laws and regulations are also diverse, legal issues requiring review arise continuously.
JNU operates a legal advisory system under separate regulations on the appointment of advisory attorneys. This appointment is significant because it establishes a system for the university to use professional legal advice on an ongoing basis across its administration, rather than seeking outside attorneys only after individual issues arise.
The attorneys will not only respond at the litigation and administrative appeal stages but will also review legal risks before policies or contracts are pursued. The aim is to enhance the stability of university administration by examining in advance the potential for disputes arising from contract terms or the application of laws and regulations.
Yang Deok-soon, president of Jeju National University, said, "As university administration and educational and research activities become more advanced, professional and reasonable judgment on legal matters is becoming increasingly important." Yang added, "I hope the experience and expertise of the advisory attorneys will help create trusted university administration."
