Indonesia’s Auto Sales Hit Record Highs as Hyundai Ranks 12th; Toyota and Daihatsu Lead

【Jakarta, Indonesia—Aulia Maulida Hamdani】Hyundai Motor Company ranked 12th in sales through August this year as Indonesia’s automotive market continued its recovery, a survey showed.
According to local media reports on the 9th, the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) said wholesale vehicle sales totaled 599,491 units from January through August, up 20.1% from the same period last year. Hyundai Motor Company sold 12,297 units, ranking 12th.
Toyota ranked first by a wide margin with 175,931 units, followed by Daihatsu with 100,884, Suzuki with 47,908, Mitsubishi Motors with 43,753, and BYD with 37,696. Hyundai Motor Company ranked 12th with 12,297 units.
To expand its market share, Hyundai Motor Company is positioning the Hyundai Stargazer and Hyundai Creta as its key sales models while strengthening its SUV lineup with the Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Palisade.
Franciscus Surjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hyundai Motor Indonesia, said, "We will enhance the customer experience by offering various programs and attractive benefits centered on product segments with strong market demand, while strengthening our dealer network and after-sales service."
Hyundai Motor Company plans to expand sales in the second half by improving the price competitiveness of its core models and further strengthening its dealer network and after-sales service.
