Amorepacific Corporation: "Microorganism Found to Improve Acne-Related Hyperpigmentation"

[Financial News] Amorepacific Corporation announced research findings showing that a microbiome strain may help improve acne-related hyperpigmentation.
On the 9th, Amorepacific Corporation said a paper on the culture extract of its independently developed microbiome strain, Bacillus velezensis AmoreLumina, was published in the August issue of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IJMS).
Amorepacific Corporation researchers focused on the process by which melanin produced after acne subsides remains in the skin, causing hyperpigmentation to persist. They explained that this represents a new approach that considers not only the inhibition of melanin production but also the removal of melanin remaining in the skin.
The researchers found that a culture extract from the strain, which is rich in moranolline, a natural functional substance, suppresses the expression of melanin-producing enzymes increased by acne-related irritation. They also found that it activates autophagy and lysosomal degradation pathways in macrophages that have already absorbed melanin and accumulated it in the skin.
A study using human skin tissue also found that hyperpigmentation induced by acne-causing bacteria and ultraviolet radiation decreased significantly after treatment with the culture extract.
Seo Byung-hwi, head of Amorepacific Corporation’s R&I Center and chief technology officer (CTO), said, "This study expands the scope of research on skin recovery." He added, "We will continue to understand changes in the skin and the recovery process and present new beauty solutions that take healthy skin conditions into account."
