Pukyong National University (PKNU) senior Kim Do-yeon selected for internship at an international marine and fisheries organization

[Financial News] Pukyong National University (PKNU) announced on the 9th that Kim Do-yeon (pictured), a fourth-year student in the Department of Aquaculture Applied Life Sciences, was selected as the final candidate for dispatch through the 2026 Marine and Fisheries International Organization Internship Program, which supports entry into international organizations in the marine and fisheries sector.
Kim Do-yeon received the highest evaluation in terms of suitability, potential for growth, specificity, and communication skills after undergoing selection procedures including written and interview evaluations. Accordingly, Kim Do-yeon will work as an intern for approximately six months in the Marine Science Division of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), an agency under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in Paris, France.
Kim Do-yeon will also receive approximately 10 million won in preparation funds and living expenses necessary for the internship at an international organization. In addition, Kim Do-yeon will be provided with education and employment support services to enhance international capabilities and future career development. Kim Do-yeon is expected to begin the internship at the end of this year after completing preparations for departure, such as obtaining a visa.
This program is organized by the Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion (KIMST). It was established to support young researchers in entering international organizations and to foster international experts in the marine and fisheries sector.
"I think I was selected because of the expertise I gained while majoring in marine and fisheries, my overseas experience, and my experience communicating with diverse people in an international environment," said Kim Do-yeon. "I want to broaden my global perspective through this internship."
