【Financial News Ulsan = Choi Su-sang】Three public officials working in Ulsan have drawn attention after rescuing a woman who fell between tetrapods at a coastal breakwater while they were traveling in Gyeongju.
According to Jung-gu, Ulsan, on the 9th, the three were Jung Ho-yeon of Byeongyeong 2-dong in Jung-gu, Ulsan; Choi Se-chang of the Economic Policy Division in Nam-gu, Ulsan; and Choi Han-seok of Duseo-myeon in Ulju County.
The three, who had entered public service together, visited the coast of Gampo-eup, Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, on the 5th. After dinner, they were heading to their lodging at around 8:58 p.m. with snacks they had bought at a convenience store.\u00a0
A woman standing on a nearby breakwater suddenly staggered and then disappeared into the darkness. Realizing that she had fallen between the tetrapods, the three immediately ran to the scene.
They continued searching in the direction from which they heard a voice saying, "Please save me..." Eventually, following the voice, they found a woman in her 50s trapped between the tetrapods and unable to move.
The three risked falling themselves as they climbed down the sloping tetrapods and pulled the woman up with all their strength.
They immediately called the 119 emergency number after the rescue. They also brought a blanket from their lodging, wrapped it around the shivering woman, and stayed by her side until the paramedics arrived.
The woman later returned home safely.\u00a0

After finishing their trip and returning to their respective duties, the three said, "We acted before we had time to think because we felt we had to help somehow," adding, "We believe we simply did what we should do as public officials. Above all, we are relieved that the woman returned home safely."
