Popular Comedian Lee Seon-min Expected to Promote Gumi as the City’s Ambassador

【Financial News Gumi=Kim Jang-wook】Popular comedian Lee Seon-min is drawing attention as the new face promoting her hometown of Gumi.
Gumi officially appointed comedian Lee Seon-min as its promotional ambassador at a pre-event for the 2026 Gumi Local Food Festa held on the 9th at Seoul Plaza in front of the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Lee has recently moved between YouTube and numerous television programs, earning widespread public affection with her distinctive wit and approachable charm. Through her appointment, she plans to take the lead in showcasing Gumi’s diverse attractions.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, "It is very reassuring to have Lee Seon-min, who is widely loved for her positive and cheerful energy, serve as the promotional ambassador for her hometown of Gumi." He added, "I hope Lee’s activities will help people across the country discover the true character of Gumi—a dynamic advanced industrial city leading the Republic of Korea, as well as a romantic city filled with diverse attractions, including the Ramyeon Festival."
Since June, the city has maintained close communication with Lee’s representatives. She first greeted Gumi residents through an interview in the July issue of the city newsletter, Gumi Times. Despite her busy schedule, she readily accepted the ambassadorial position out of affection for her hometown and is now beginning an active campaign to promote it.
The city expects Lee’s exceptional affection for her hometown and her cheerful personality to create significant synergy in promoting major municipal initiatives as well as cultural and tourism resources.
The appointment ceremony also attracted attention with unusual gifts reflecting Gumi’s identity. Along with an appointment plaque featuring a semiconductor wafer symbolizing the Republic of Korea’s leading advanced industrial city, the city presented a jumbo cup of ramyeon specially designed with a Gumi Ramyeon Festival poster to convey the spirit of its "romantic city."
Starting with this appointment ceremony, Lee plans to actively attend Gumi’s major festivals and official events and participate in various promotional content and projects aimed at promoting the city’s brand.
