[Financial News] KB Financial Group announced on the 9th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BS Group to establish a strategic cooperation framework for the expansion of productive finance and shared growth.
The agreement involved KB Financial Group, KB Kookmin Bank, KB Securities, KB Asset Management, KB Capital, BS Bosung, BS Hanyang, and BS Industrial. Both groups plan to create synergy by combining the expertise and business capabilities accumulated in the financial and industrial sectors, and to jointly identify business opportunities in future growth areas.
KB Financial Group is increasing financial support for high-tech strategic industries and core infrastructure sectors to expand productive finance. It arranged financing for the Shinan Ui Offshore Wind Power Project, which attracted attention as the first investment target of the National Growth Fund, and also secured the right to arrange financing for the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster District Energy Project, the largest semiconductor complex in Korea.
BS Group has secured development experience and a business pipeline by pursuing numerous large-scale projects in the fields of renewable energy, including solar power, and energy infrastructure. The company is currently engaged in projects such as renewable energy hub terminals, floating solar power generation, LNG hub terminals, and combined heat and power generation, while also concentrating its capabilities on the development of future cities centered around 'Solasido' in Haenam, South Jeolla Province.
Key areas of cooperation include: renewable energy and eco-friendly power plants; energy infrastructure such as energy hub terminals, ports, and utilities; real estate supply such as residential and industrial complexes; artificial intelligence (AI), energy new cities, and AI data centers (AIDC); financial services necessary for corporate growth such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and initial public offerings (IPO); and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.
Both groups plan to operate sector-specific working councils to identify specific cooperation projects and promote the strengthening of competitiveness and mutual growth in the fields of new and renewable energy and future industries.
In addition, KB Financial Group has been operating the 'Advanced Strategic Industry Study Forum' since last August to enhance its understanding of future growth industries and identify financial opportunities. KB Financial Group plans to develop financial solutions for companies and projects at each stage of growth by integrating the industry analysis accumulated through the forum into company discovery, screening, and investment operations.
