Ministry of Food and Drug Safety Tests 100 Hand Sanitizers; Four Products Fail Content Standards

[Financial News] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety found that four of 100 hand sanitizer products distributed on the market failed to meet the standards for active-ingredient content.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said on the 9th that it had collected 100 hand sanitizers with high sales volumes online and offline in August and tested their quality. The results showed that four products contained active ingredients below or above the labeled content standards.
The noncompliant products are Meditop Disinfectant Ethanol by Meditop, Dana Disinfectant Ethanol by Dana Pharmaceutical, A-Top Disinfectant Ethanol by A-Top Med, and KMPC Miracle Origin Hand Sanitizer Gel by Korea Miracle People.
Hand sanitizers must contain the proper amount of their active ingredients to deliver the expected disinfecting effect. In this inspection, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety checked whether the active ingredients listed on the products met the required standards.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to suspend sales of the noncompliant products and order their recall and disposal. It will also impose administrative sanctions on the companies involved. Detailed product information is available through Drug Safety Korea.
A Ministry of Food and Drug Safety official said, "We will continue conducting quality inspections to ensure that quasi-drugs, including hand sanitizers, are distributed safely and with their quality assured."
