[Financial News] Busan Transportation Corporation said on the 9th that it had renovated the nursing room at Yeonsan Station on Busan Metro Line 1 and created a health donation staircase at Sasang Station on Line 2 together with Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF).
The two organizations signed an agreement in September last year and agreed to identify and jointly pursue cooperation projects for the development of the local community.
The nursing room at Yeonsan Station on Line 1 underwent a full renovation. The nursing area and infant playroom were separated, while the aging ceiling, walls and lighting were replaced. Hygiene facilities, including a diaper-changing table, sink and washbasin, were also newly installed to improve convenience for passengers accompanied by infants and young children.
A health donation staircase was created at Sasang Station on Line 2. It is a citizen-participation donation project under which 10 won is accumulated for each person who uses the stairs. HF plans to donate 20 million won annually to ChildFund Korea, including the amount accumulated through use of the staircase. To encourage greater public participation, the corporation will broadcast in-voice promotional announcements by singer Kim Chang-hwan, an HF promotional ambassador, inside train cars.
The project was carried out through a division of responsibilities between the two organizations. Busan Transportation Corporation identified the spaces for the facilities, provided electrical equipment and managed safety at the construction sites. HF sponsored approximately 40 million won for improvements to the nursing room at Yeonsan Station and approximately 20 million won for the health donation staircase at Sasang Station.
Busan Transportation Corporation President Lee Byung-jin said, "Based on the memorandum of understanding signed with Korea Housing Finance Corporation, we are expanding the scope of our collaboration from support for people with reduced mobility to resolving issues facing the local community."
