"Taking Aim at the Fully Autonomous Driving Market"... HL Klemove Signs Partnership with Lenovo

[Financial News] South Korean autonomous-driving solutions provider HL Klemove has joined forces with global information technology (IT) company Lenovo.
HL Group affiliate HL Klemove announced on the 9th that it had signed a partnership with Lenovo at Lenovo’s R&D center in Shanghai, China, on the 8th to gain an early lead in the autonomous-driving market. The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both companies, including HL Klemove President Lee Yoon-haeng, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Hong Dae-geon, and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Kim Seong-guk, as well as Lenovo Vice President Peter Xu and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Nix Luo.
The cooperation is structured in three stages. First, the companies will jointly develop automotive AI high-performance computing (HPC). HL Klemove will then take full responsibility for securing orders and mass production, with the aim of gaining an early lead in the global fully autonomous-driving market as it enters a period of full-scale growth.
HL Klemove was assigned responsibility for securing orders and mass production because of its sales capabilities and manufacturing experience. The company has built a global automaker network and developed expertise in responding to local markets since 2012. It has also directly produced Level 2 and Level 2+ autonomous-driving sensing and control components at major manufacturing bases in China, North America, and India.
The company has also developed system-integration capabilities. With manufacturing references accumulated since 2012 and approximately 2,700 patents, it has grown into one of South Korea’s leading autonomous-driving companies. Through this partnership, HL Klemove plans to combine Lenovo’s design capabilities with its own to create differentiated technological value.
HL Klemove President Lee Yoon-haeng said, "We will enhance our competitiveness in the global market by combining HL Klemove’s technological expertise, sales capabilities, and production capacity with Lenovo’s advanced autonomous-driving controller design capabilities." He added, "We will quickly introduce fully autonomous-driving solutions that satisfy our customers."
Peter Xu, vice president who leads Lenovo’s automotive computing business, stated, "Lenovo is expanding its AI computing business into automotive computing, focusing on Level 4 autonomous driving and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)." He added, "We will accelerate our entry into new markets by leveraging HL Klemove’s manufacturing capabilities and global supply network."
