Hyundai Steel Company-POSCO HPLS Engages with 700 Louisiana Residents

[Financial News] Hyundai-POSCO Louisiana Steel (HPLS) held an event to engage with local residents ahead of the construction of its steel mill.
HPLS announced on the 9th that it held an HPLS Community Day event on the 6th (local time) at Louisiana Square in Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish, Louisiana, where the project site is located, inviting local residents.
About 700 local residents, including Donaldsonville Mayor Leroy Sullivan, attended the event, which was held under the theme “HPLS in Harmony with Local Residents.” HPLS employees, including Kim Hyung-jin, its CEO and executive vice president leading Hyundai Steel Company’s North American steel business, also took part in various programs with the community.
HPLS plans to build ties with local residents through communication and cooperation while establishing a foundation for the steel mill’s sustainable growth.
Mayor Leroy Sullivan, who attended the event, said, “HPLS will create many opportunities for the people of Donaldsonville.”
A Korean American who operates a business in Louisiana serving Korean Americans and local residents said, “As Korean companies and Koreans establish themselves in American communities, interest in Korea and Korean culture is also growing.” The person added, “I hope HPLS’s investment in the steel mill will lead not only to the development of the Korean American community but also to opportunities for Korea and the Louisiana community to better understand and engage with each other.”
