[Financial News] LG Electronics announced on the 9th that its Life’s Good volunteer group, made up of employees who participate voluntarily, is carrying out volunteer work at the Takeda Education Center in Yangon, Myanmar, through the 11th.
The Takeda Education Center operates educational programs for teenagers from low-income families and community development projects. LG Electronics visited the center for employee overseas volunteer activities for the second consecutive year, following last year.
Since 2019, LG Electronics has organized overseas volunteer activities for its employees, mainly in emerging Asian countries, together with employees of its local subsidiaries.
The Life’s Good volunteer group is creating a vocational training workshop and rest facilities for young people in a new building at the center. The volunteers are also painting the interior and exterior of the building, creating murals, and working on construction of an exterior fence at the center.
The group also plans to prepare 400 kits containing essential goods such as rice and toothpaste and deliver them to nearby low-income households.
About 30 employees with diverse backgrounds joined this year’s volunteer group to contribute their skills, including employees who regularly participate in home-repair volunteer work, winners of mural competitions, and YouTube operators. Four university students selected for outstanding activities in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Academy, an extracurricular university student program, also took part.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics received a presidential commendation at last year’s Korea Volunteer Service Awards in recognition of its support for local communities and underserved groups and its efforts to spread a positive impact throughout society.
