KOSPI Composite Index Breaks Above 7,000 Again on Institutional Buying, Gains More Than 1%[fn Morning Market Update]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index has broken above the 7,000 mark again, buoyed by institutional buying, and is posting a gain of more than 1%.
According to the Korea Exchange (KRX), as of 11:05 a.m. on the 9th, the KOSPI Composite Index was trading at 7,060.84, up 106.32 points, or 1.53%, from the previous session.
On the main bourse, institutional investors were making net purchases worth 311.5 billion won, while retail investors and foreign investors were making net sales worth 891.9 billion won and 500 million won, respectively.
By sector, machinery and equipment rose 3.30%, medical and precision instruments gained 2.47%, and manufacturing advanced 2.15%. Entertainment and culture fell 1.78%, paper and wood declined 1.12%, and transportation and warehousing dropped 1.13%.
Among the large-cap stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electro-Mechanics rose 3.65%, SK hynix gained 3.46%, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries advanced 2.26%. Shinhan Financial Group fell 2.56%, SK Group declined 1.00%, and KB Financial Group dropped 0.86%.
At the same time, KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) was trading at 830.25, up 18.37 points, or 2.26%, from the previous session. Foreign investors and institutional investors were making net purchases worth 251.1 billion won and 13.5 billion won, respectively, while retail investors were making net sales worth 263.2 billion won.
