【Financial News Chuncheon = Reporter Kim Ki-seop】Gangwon Technopark received the highest rating, an S grade, in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ 2026 management performance evaluation of technoparks, earning an S grade for the second consecutive year.
According to Gangwon Technopark on the 9th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups recently conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the major projects and overall operations of 19 technoparks nationwide, based on their performance last year. Gangwon Technopark was the only institution among the 19 to receive an S grade and was selected as the top-performing institution.
Gangwon Technopark is a regional innovation hub that plans regional industrial policies and provides tailored support to companies at each stage of growth. It has established a comprehensive support system covering everything from industrial infrastructure development to technology development, demonstration and commercialization, and business support, focusing on regional future growth industries such as AI and digital technologies, digital healthcare, Advanced Biotechnology, future mobility, clean energy, and AI and semiconductors.
It also delivered balanced results across its major projects. The Regional Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Growth Ladder Support Program, the Industrial Technology Complex Hub Function Enhancement Program, and the Smart Factory Support Program received S grades, while the Regional Crisis Support Center Operations Program and the regional specialized project Legend 50+ received AA grades. The institution also earned high scores for support outcomes experienced directly by companies, including tenant companies’ use of space, sales and employment performance, equipment utilization, and beneficiary satisfaction.
Its proactive response to changes in the policy environment was also highly evaluated. In line with the government’s Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces Strategy and AI Great Transformation, Gangwon Technopark proactively reorganized the region’s key industries and presented a concrete direction for building a Gangwon-style advanced industrial ecosystem. Its efforts to identify specialized projects for each city and county, as well as joint projects linking cities and counties, in connection with metropolitan-level priority projects were also recognized as outstanding achievements.
In its operations, the institution reorganized its structure in response to changes in future industries and established a system for managing goals by linking its management strategy with performance indicators for each department. Its leadership, financial management, and accounting also received favorable evaluations.
Gangwon Technopark plans to use this achievement as an opportunity for a new leap forward by strengthening tailored support for regional companies at each stage of growth and responding proactively to the changing industrial environment and government policies. In line with the administrative direction of Gangwon State’s ninth elected administration, it will strengthen cooperation with regional universities, research institutions, and innovation support organizations while focusing its capabilities on creating results that companies can directly experience.
Heo Jang-hyun, president of Gangwon Technopark, said, "The efforts our employees have built in their respective positions for regional companies and regional industries have led to the highest rating for two consecutive years." He added, "We will take this result as a call to pursue even greater challenges, listen more closely to companies, respond one step ahead of industrial changes, and create results in which companies and the region grow together."
