Trump Attacks Iran While Commemorating 9/11: “They Dreamed of Nuclear Weapons and Paid an Enormous Price”

On the 8th, local time, President Trump attended the “Steel Across America” event held at The Ellipse, south of the White House in Washington, D.C. He said, “Now that many years have passed since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, we gather on another Tuesday morning in September to reaffirm the sacred pledge we made 25 years ago.” The event was organized to honor those who lost their lives ahead of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
President Trump stressed, “So much has changed since that day, but this twisted piece of steel placed here at The Ellipse today reminds us that the United States is a nation endowed with the strength to withstand any fire, overcome any evil and survive any act of terrorism.”
Regarding the war with Iran, now entering its seventh month, he said, “The reason we are fighting now is that there was a country that wanted nuclear weapons.” He added, “They came very close to possessing nuclear weapons, but now they have no chance whatsoever. They will not have nuclear weapons, and they have paid an enormous price.”
President Trump also presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the event to Welles Crowther, a stockbroker who died when the south tower of the World Trade Center (WTC) collapsed while he was rescuing many people during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The 9/11 terrorist attacks, carried out in 2001 by Al-Qaeda, an Islamic fundamentalist group led by Osama bin Laden, are recorded as the worst tragedy since the founding of the United States. Four hijacked commercial aircraft crashed into the two World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon, while another crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing approximately 3,000 people.
