Incheon Metropolitan City Government Activates Transportation and Safety Measures for Chuseok Visitors to Incheon Family Park

【Financial News Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su】 Incheon Metropolitan City Government is implementing comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of visitors to Incheon Family Park during the Chuseok holiday and reduce traffic congestion.
Incheon Metropolitan City Government announced on the 9th that it will designate September 19 through October 5 as the “ancestral grave visit measures period” and implement transportation, safety, and convenience measures.
All facilities at Incheon Family Park will operate normally during the holiday period. To disperse visitors, the opening hours of the columbarium will be moved up from 8 a.m. to 6 a.m. from September 24 to 26.
In particular, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 25, Chuseok Day, access to the park by all general vehicles will be completely restricted, except for funeral procession vehicles visiting Seunghwawon. The city urged visitors to use public transportation and will operate 10 free shuttle buses between the inside and outside of Incheon Family Park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The shuttle buses will operate on two routes. The outer loop will connect Exit 2 of Bupyeongsamgeori Station on the Incheon Subway with Incheon Family Park’s large parking lot. The inner loop will depart from the large parking lot, pass the enshrinement facilities, Sewol Ferry Memorial Hall, and Seunghwawon, and return to the large parking lot.
To ease parking shortages, the grounds of Jeil High School will be opened as a temporary parking lot from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from September 24 to 26. During the holiday period, except on Chuseok Day, vehicle access to the park will be flexibly restricted according to on-site traffic conditions, while enforcement against illegal parking and stopping will also be carried out.
Safety management will also be strengthened. Incheon Metropolitan City Government, fire stations, police stations, and other relevant agencies will work to maintain order at the site. An emergency ambulance will be stationed at the large parking lot to ensure a swift response to emergencies.
For visitors’ convenience, kiosks providing information on the locations of the deceased in the columbarium will be operated. Five temporary ceremonial rooms each will be installed at Pyeonondang and Byeolbitdang through September 26.
An online memorial service will also be available year-round for residents who have difficulty visiting in person. Introduced nationwide for the first time in 2020, the service offers online memorial rites, galleries of photos and videos of the deceased, a bereaved-family messenger, and location information for the deceased.
Kim Sang-jeong, head of Incheon Metropolitan City Government’s Senior Policy Division, said, “We urge residents to make active use of advance and online memorial visits to reduce congestion, and to use public transportation on Chuseok Day.”
