Busan Metropolitan City Government: "A Warm Chuseok Again This Year"... Donations and Goods Delivered to More Than 80 Social Welfare Facilities

[Financial News] Busan Metropolitan City Government will provide holiday consolation payments to elderly people living alone ahead of Chuseok and carry out various sharing activities for vulnerable residents in the region.
The city has designated the approximately two-week period from the 9th through the day before the Chuseok holiday, the 23rd, as the intensive campaign period for “Spending a Warm Chuseok Holiday,” and has begun putting neighborly love into practice during the holiday season.
Senior city officials and all departments at city headquarters and affiliated offices will participate by delivering monetary donations and donated goods to more than 80 social welfare facilities in the city.
The city will provide expenses for Chuseok ancestral rites tables at four homeless facilities so they can hold joint ancestral rites. It will also provide holiday consolation payments of KRW 50,000 per person to approximately 27,000 households of elderly people living alone.
Major organizations are also joining the sharing effort. Busan Community Chest of Korea will provide special living expenses totaling KRW 1.2 billion, including KRW 100,000 each to 11,300 low-income vulnerable households and KRW 35 million each to two jjokbang counseling centers.
The Busan Branch of the Korean Red Cross will deliver nutritious meal sets worth a total of KRW 66.1 million, providing KRW 28,000 worth to each of 2,362 low-income households.
The 16 districts and counties in the city are also establishing their own plans and actively participating in sharing the warmth of the Chuseok holiday with local residents.
