According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on the 9th, officials from the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the government, the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, and military commanders paid their respects at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on the 8th, the day before the 78th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean regime. Although Chairman Kim did not attend, he sent a flower basket to the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulatory messages to Chairman Kim on the September 9 National Day, emphasizing their strategic relationship with North Korea. In his message, President Xi stated, "Safeguarding, consolidating, and developing China-North Korea relations well is the consistent and unwavering policy of the Chinese Party and government."
President Putin also stated, "Without a doubt, I will continue to carry out the closest joint work with you (Kim Jong Un) to further consolidate the comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries," KCNA reported. The congratulatory messages from President Xi and President Putin were also published on the front page of Rodong Sinmun, which is read by North Korean residents.
