Deodeok Fragrance Fills the Air... 13th Hoengseong Deodeok Festival to Open in Cheongil-myeon on the 11th

【Financial News Hoengseong = Reporter Kim Gi-seop】The 13th Hoengseong Deodeok Festival, where visitors can enjoy the aroma and flavor of Hoengseong’s premium deodeok, will take place from the 11th to the 13th at the Nonggeori Festival Grounds in Cheongil-myeon.
According to Hoengseong County on the 9th, this year’s festival, held under the theme “The Fragrance of Deodeok and Laughter Everywhere,” features a variety of hands-on and cultural programs. The event aims to promote the excellence of Hoengseong deodeok while offering residents and tourists a wide range of things to see, do, and eat.
On the opening day, the 11th, a large-scale deodeok bibimbap performance will follow the opening ceremony and celebratory performances, bringing visitors together in harmony. From 6 p.m. on the second day, the 12th, the first Nonggeori Dance Competition will heat up the atmosphere, with people of all ages welcome to participate.
Another highlight is the official mascot, “Deogi.” The Deogi sculpture was created for the fourth festival in 2014, but after years of damage from wind and rain, it was left at an outdoor storage site. In 2023, a local artist restored its damaged sections and gave it a modern makeover, transforming it into a sophisticated character. Once regarded as an eyesore, Deogi has become a popular sculpture at the festival grounds and a must-visit photo spot for attendees, serving as a symbol of the festival.
