[Financial News] A post by an office worker in their 30s who says they cannot quit their job despite winning about 1.2 billion won in the first prize of the lottery is attracting attention online.

On the 8th, a post titled "Lotto 1st Prize" was uploaded to NOW Talk, an anonymous community for office workers. According to the verified information on NOW Talk, the author, identified as A, works for a large corporation that produces TV panels.
A began the post by saying, "I can't stand not telling you. I won the first prize in the lottery. I'm in my mid-30s, and I still can't believe it."
A said that the prize money was received at the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF) headquarters. A recounted the process of receiving the prize money, stating, "I quietly told a security guard on the first floor of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF) headquarters, 'I won the lottery first prize,' and he guided me. I went to the VIP room on the second floor, waited while drinking tea, and was called in order. It took about two hours to collect the money, but there was no solicitation of gifts or bothersome behavior."
Regarding the amount received, he stated, "They really take a lot in taxes," adding, "After taxes, the net amount was about 1.2 billion won, and since I paid off all my loans and bought a new car, there isn't much left. I went back to work without it feeling real. It seems I will have to keep working."

Person A attached a photo of a bank statement showing the winning notification screen and deposit details to the post, stating, "Since many people don't believe me, I am verifying it with a screenshot of my bank account."
The winning notification screen posted by Mr. A showed the first-place prize for the 1240th draw held on the 5th as approximately 1.79181 billion won, but the amount deposited into the account was approximately 1.23351 billion won. This means that more than 558 million won was deducted for taxes.
Under current law, on lottery winnings exceeding 300 million won, 33% is withheld as local income tax in addition to 30% other income tax.
Comments asking about the purchase method and the atmosphere at the pickup site also followed. A replied, "I didn't have a dream about it, it was automatic, and it's been about six years."
