[Financial News] NH Financial Group Inc. has launched a global social contribution initiative to help rural residents in Vietnam address local community issues themselves. The group plans to select outstanding ideas proposed by residents and support their implementation as actual projects.
NH Financial Group said on the 9th that it held the appointment ceremony for the global social contribution project ‘NH Change Makers’ in Vietnam with Good Neighbors, an NGO specializing in children’s rights worldwide, over two days from the 7th to the 8th, and carried out volunteer activities locally.
The project was established for the second consecutive year to help residents in rural Vietnam resolve social issues in their communities themselves. It invites local residents to submit project proposals and supports them in directly implementing the selected outstanding projects.
On the 7th, NH Financial Group employees visited Son Thuy Commune in Tuyen Quang Province, Vietnam, and delivered donated goods to local residents and children. They also planted trees with local residents to help create a sustainable, environmentally friendly rural environment.
On the 8th, an appointment ceremony was held for the contest projects aimed at addressing local community issues. About 40 creative and practical project ideas were submitted, and three outstanding projects were selected after evaluation.
The event was attended by Lim Do-gon, executive vice president of NH Financial Group’s Growth Strategy Division; Ji Seong-wook, head of NongHyup Bank Hanoi Financial Center; Moon Seong-geun, head of NH Investment & Securities Vietnam; and Cho Eun-seung, Good Neighbors’ Vietnam country representative and a project partner. Vietnamese government officials, including the chairmen of the local People’s Committees in the areas where the selected projects will be carried out, as well as local residents, also attended.
Lim Do-gon, executive vice president of NH Financial Group, said, "It is meaningful that NH Financial Group, which grew on the foundation of Korea’s agriculture and rural communities, can contribute to the sustainable development and self-reliance of rural communities in Vietnam." He added, "We will continue to put the values of inclusive growth and mutual prosperity into practice based on strong partnerships with local governments and communities."
A Vietnamese government official said, "We express our deep gratitude to NH Financial Group for visiting the site and providing multifaceted support to improve the local environment and residents’ quality of life." The official added, "We will actively cooperate to bring positive change to the local community."
