[Financial News] Busan Metropolitan City Government announced on the 9th that it held the “2026 Q3 Overseas Trade Office–Business Export Video Consulting Meeting” over two days, from the 7th to the 8th, for local small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to enter the Japanese market.
The meeting was organized to match local companies one-on-one with import and export experts in the host countries of the Busan Overseas Trade Offices. It aimed to address the difficulties local small and medium-sized enterprises face in entering overseas markets and support tangible export results.
Busan Metropolitan City Government holds a quarterly series of meetings by leveraging the local networks and market-entry expertise of the Busan Overseas Trade Offices. Consulting in the first and second quarters focused on the Chinese and United States markets, respectively.
Four Busan-based companies in the food, cosmetics and household goods sectors took part in the third-quarter consulting program. Each company received customized online consultations from local experts in Japan.
For companies with previous export experience, the experts provided guidance on pricing strategies and distribution channels in the Japanese market. Companies attempting to export overseas for the first time received tailored consulting on logistics policies, customs clearance and certification procedures.
Starting with this session, consultations previously held in person at the AI Trade Support Center inside the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) were switched to remote video consultations in response to companies’ feedback. The change improved accessibility and convenience for participating companies.
The Busan Overseas Trade Offices operate bases in the United States, Japan, China and Vietnam, serving as local hubs that support regional companies’ entry into overseas markets. Even after the consulting sessions, they plan to continue serving as a bridge for companies seeking to export by working with organizations such as the Busan Export One-Stop Support Center.
Kim Ki-hwan, Director of the Digital Economy Bureau at Busan Metropolitan City Government, said, “The Busan Overseas Trade Offices are export platforms that allow Busan companies to directly use the networks and market information accumulated locally.” He added, “We will continue to connect companies with local experts based on their individual needs and support their entry into overseas markets, as well as the creation of tangible export results.”
