Gangwon State, Incheon Metropolitan City and Chungcheongbuk-do to Operate Joint Quantum-Bio Pavilion at International Quantum Industry Expo

【Financial News Chuncheon=Kim Ki-seop】Gangwon State, Incheon Metropolitan City and Chungcheongbuk-do are bringing an industrial value chain that combines quantum technology and biotechnology to the international stage.
According to Gangwon Technopark on the 9th, the super-regional consortium formed by Gangwon State, Incheon Metropolitan City and Chungcheongbuk-do will operate the K-Quantum Bio Mega Cluster joint pavilion at the 2026 International Quantum Industry Expo, which runs from that day through the 11th at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul. In cooperation with regional organizations, including Gangwon Technopark, the pavilion will connect the quantum and bio infrastructure established by the three provinces and cities with the technological capabilities of local companies and research institutions.
The joint pavilion will link Incheon’s quantum computing infrastructure and research capabilities, Gangwon State’s quantum devices and algorithms, and Chungcheongbuk-do’s quantum computers and synchrotron radiation facilities, along with other precision analysis and verification infrastructure. It will present an integrated industrial model spanning technology development, demonstration and commercialization.
Participating companies and institutions will also exhibit key technologies and equipment. HANA will showcase three types of cryogenic equipment, including a microcryostat; GQT Korea will present single-photon detectors and quantum-bio sensing solutions; and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) will display quantum chips based on photonic integrated circuits.
Gangwon State is expanding its industrial foundation by linking quantum technology with biotechnology, while Gangwon Technopark supports local quantum companies’ research and development as well as the convergence of quantum technology with industry. Through the joint pavilion, Gangwon Technopark plans to assist local quantum companies with technology development and commercialization, expand connections between quantum technology and the bio industry, and help build a regional quantum-bio ecosystem.
Lee Ki-soo, director of the Gangwon Digital Innovation Center, said, "This is a platform to showcase Gangwon State’s capabilities in quantum devices and algorithms, as well as the potential for linking quantum technology with biotechnology, both domestically and internationally, by joining forces with Incheon Metropolitan City and Chungcheongbuk-do." He added, "With support from Gangwon Technopark, we will actively assist local companies with technology development and commercialization."
