[Financial News]  Shinsegae Duty Free is introducing Fuggler, a global character brand that has won over Millennials and Generation Z with its unique appeal.
According to industry sources on the 9th, Fuggler—short for “Funny Ugly Monster”—is known for its comical expressions and human-like teeth. The brand began in 2010 with a British artist’s unusual idea of attaching model teeth to dolls. It has since sold more than 8 million dolls and key rings of various sizes and designs worldwide. Collaborations with well-known characters have added to the fun of collecting and helped expand its global fan base.
Fuggler has gained popularity among Millennials and Generation Z in Korea and abroad with distinctive characters such as “Rabbit Mix,” “Long Long Ear,” “Nugget,” “McGumix,” and “Weirdo Mix.” A brand pop-up store is also scheduled to open in Shanghai in the second half of the year.
Shinsegae Duty Free has launched Fuggler simultaneously at its Myeong-dong branch and at Terminals 1 and 2 of Incheon International Airport. The company plans to add the brand to its online mall within this month so that domestic and international customers can find it across all channels.
A Shinsegae Duty Free representative said, “By becoming the first duty-free retailer in Korea to carry Fuggler, we have expanded our range of trendy global character products. We will continue to introduce distinctive characters and lifestyle products.”
