South Chungcheong Province announced on the 8th that Liriope muscari flowers are blooming profusely along the walking trail leading from the pine forest path near Veterans Park in Hongseong County's Naepo New Town to Naepo Art Village, creating a healing space filled with atmosphere.
Liriope muscari, which takes root even in shady places, produces low-growing, deep purple flowers from the end of summer to the beginning of autumn. The purple colony spread like a carpet beneath the shade of the dense pine forest creates a wistful and beautiful landscape.
Along the secluded section of the walking trail where Liriope muscari ripples in the breeze, rest facilities such as cozy benches have been installed so visitors can take a break and savor the sound of the wind and the scent of the flowers.
It is not difficult to encounter this breathtaking purple landscape. Park your car at the Hongseong parking lot of Hongye Park and walk lightly for about three minutes toward Yongbongsan Mountain; a sea of Liriope muscari blending with the scent of pine will unfold before you.
An official from South Chungcheong Province said, "The colorful purple colony spread beneath the shade of the pine trees offers warm comfort and healing to those weary from daily life," adding, "We hope you will experience the beautiful atmosphere of a purple autumn with your family and neighbors."
Meanwhile, Liriope muscari, known in traditional Korean medicine as the "immortal herb that does not lose its greenness even in winter," has long been believed to moisten the lungs and calm the mind. The calm, subdued purple color of its flowers also has notable psychological healing effects, clearing the viewer's mind and soothing the emotions.
