"Enjoy Seoul During the Chuseok Holiday"—Family Programs Featuring Traditional Games and More

[Financial News] Parks across Seoul will host programs for families during the Chuseok holiday, ranging from traditional games and full-moon viewing to ecology and craft activities.
Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 9th that it will operate special Chuseok programs from the 24th through the 27th at nine parks, including World Cup Park, and Seoul Botanic Park. The programs include traditional games, full-moon viewing, exhibitions, forest experiences, ecology, crafts and gardening.
Seoul Namsan Park will offer activities such as making beeswax candles, gardening and forest exploration. At Naksan Park, visitors can learn about the park’s history and cultural heritage through Seunggyeongdo, a traditional game from the Joseon Dynasty. Yongsan Family Park will offer a guided forest program focused on observing fruits and seeds in the autumn woods.
At World Cup Park, visitors can enjoy traditional games, make traditional toys, and observe the full moon and autumn constellations on the 24th and 25th. At Seonyudo Park, participants will learn about the park’s history and the water cycle before making pollock ornaments. Gyeongui Line Forest Park will offer a look at how a disused railway line was transformed into a park, along with nature-based craft activities.
Boramae Park will open a garden playground where visitors can enjoy traditional games such as yutnori, gonggi, spinning tops and tuho. Seoul Forest will operate ecological programs for observing organisms in the park, insect specimen activities and a traditional games area.
North Seoul Dream Forest will host “Hangawi Moonlight Journey,” featuring family cooperative games and wish-moon making. Seoul Botanic Park will present a special exhibition on the relationship between nature, humans and technology, along with related programs for children and families.
Programs requiring advance reservations can be booked through Seoul Metropolitan Government’s public-service reservation website. Reservations for Seoul Namsan Park, Naksan Park and Yongsan Family Park will open at 2 p.m. on the 9th, while reservations for World Cup Park, Seonyudo Park and Gyeongui Line Forest Park will begin at 10 a.m. on the 10th. Some traditional game programs can be joined without a separate reservation.
Kim Young-hwan, director of Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Garden City Bureau, said, "We prepared these programs so that families can spend special time together at nearby parks without having to travel far during the Chuseok holiday." He added, "I hope you enjoy the unique appeal of each park and the programs, and have a fulfilling Chuseok holiday."
