On the 8th (local time), the Canadian daily newspaper Winnipeg Sun reported that 62% of respondents in a poll released by the Angus Reid Institute gave a positive assessment of Prime Minister Carney's performance. This is an 11-percentage-point increase from the 51% recorded last August. It is also approaching his personal best approval rating of 63%, recorded immediately after his speech at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, earlier this year.
By region, a majority approval rating was recorded in every province across Canada except Saskatchewan.
This rise in approval ratings occurred amid escalating trade tensions with the United States.
