Jeju National University Sends 10 Local Leaders to the Lecture Hall... Conveying That "Success Is Possible in Jeju Too"

[Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jeong Yong-bok] Jeju National University (JNU) is bringing 10 local leaders who have achieved success in the region to the university lecture halls. As an educational experiment designed to show students real-life examples of how they can start businesses, grow, and build their careers in Jeju, JNU President Yang Deok-sun has personally taken on the role of supervising professor.
According to Jeju National University (JNU) on the 9th, starting from the second semester of this year, a new 'I Can Do Special Lecture: Local Leaders Lecture Series' will be established to share the experiences of local entrepreneurs and leaders in various fields within the regular curriculum.
The lecture was designed not merely to listen to success stories, but to allow students to directly experience the process of finding opportunities in the region and expanding their businesses and careers. It focused on boosting students' sense of challenge and confidence in the region by sharing the choices, trials and errors, and growth experiences of leaders active in Jeju.
The lecture team consists of 10 people active in various fields such as business, sports, the military, and architecture.
Starting with Youdong Coffee CEO Seo Yudong on the 10th, Kakao Corp. Regional Cooperation Vice President Jae-Seung Lee on the 17th, Donghwa Village & Jesco Mart Chairman Kang Dong-hwa on October 1st, Sanji Industrial Co., Ltd. CEO Han Bong-sim on the 15th, Jeju SK Football Club Under-18 Director Koo Ja-cheol on the 22nd, and Hallasan Soju CEO Hyun Jae-woong on the 29th will take the podium.
In November, Joyce Wong Shu Pei, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Administration at Jeju Shinhwa World, will give two lectures on the 5th and 12th. On the 19th, Brigadier General Jwa Tae-guk, Commander of the 9th Marine Brigade, will participate, followed by Ehwa Yoo, CEO of ITM Yoo Ehwa Architects, on the 26th. On December 3, Kim Chang-hee, CEO of BMI, will deliver the final lecture.
It is also noteworthy that the President personally oversees the overall operation of this course. President Yang Deok-sun participates as the professor in charge, overseeing the recruitment of instructors and the operation of the course.
Classes that involve experiencing local sites firsthand outside the classroom are also conducted in parallel.
On October 1st, field trips will be conducted to Songdang Fairy Tale Village, and on November 5th, to Jeju Shinhwa World. The method involves traveling as a group by bus from school to examine how the business sites are operated and how they are connected to the local community.
This course, named 'Runcation' by Jeju National University (JNU), is an experiential education program designed to allow students to verify experiences learned in lectures at actual business sites. The purpose is to connect lectures with the field to enable students to examine local industries, jobs, and entrepreneurial possibilities in detail.
The lineup of speakers also demonstrates that career paths available in the region are not limited to specific industries. Leaders from diverse fields are participating, ranging from coffee, retail, information technology, and the alcohol and tourism industries to sports, the military, and architecture.
Jeju National University (JNU) plans to directly connect students with the experiences of those who have been active and achieved results in the region, enabling young people to concretely envision their career paths and potential within Jeju.
Jeju National University President Yang Deok-sun stated, "I hope that through the experiences of challenge and achievement by local leaders, students will gain pride in Jeju and discover their own potential," adding, "We will continue to expand educational programs linked with the local community."
