Israel closes British Consulate General Jerusalem in East Jerusalem

[Financial News] The Israeli government has decided to close British Consulate General Jerusalem in response to the United Kingdom's sanctions on goods produced in the occupied West Bank.
According to a BBC report on the 8th (local time), Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar explained the reason for the closure, stating, "Unified Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel and is under full sovereignty," and "All foreign activities in this area must be carried out in a customary and agreed manner without interfering with Israeli sovereignty."
The consulate general has represented the United Kingdom in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, handling political, commercial, security, and economic interests between the two sides. Given that the United Kingdom does not have a separate base in the West Bank or Gaza Strip, this closure is expected to significantly disrupt British activities and influence in Palestine.
In addition to closing the consulate general, the Israeli government announced additional retaliatory measures.
Israel banned 12 British politicians from entering the country on the grounds that they were "involved in anti-Israel and anti-Semitic activities." It also decided to expel British representatives of the International Assistance Centre (ICA) located in the Gaza Strip and Kiryat Gat, Israel.
British "Palestinian Authority security forces training activities" being conducted in Ramat HaSharon, Israel, have been completely banned.
Minister Sa'ar warned, "The message to governments seeking to harm us is clear," adding, "We will respond with the same massive force against those who oppose Israel, and they will lose their influence and relevance in the region."
