The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) said on the 9th that the '2026 Korea Dulle-gil × East-West Trail of Korea Walking Travel Week,' organized with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and Korea Forest Service (KFS), will run from October 1 to 11.
The launch ceremony will be held on October 1 at the Taean Thalassotherapy Center in Taean County, South Chungcheong Province. The event will take place around Mongsanpo Beach, where Section 65 of the Seohaerang Trail meets Section 2 of the East-West Trail of Korea.
Korea Dulle-gil is an approximately 4,500-kilometer walking route connecting the east, west and southern coasts with border areas. All sections opened in 2024. The East-West Trail of Korea is an approximately 850-kilometer forest trail stretching from Taean to Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province, and is being developed with the goal of opening the entire route in the second half of next year.
Applications for the launch ceremony will be accepted through the Durunubi app and website from today through the 20th, with 500 participants admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will walk approximately 3 kilometers from the Taean Thalassotherapy Center to Mongsanpo Beach and receive medals upon completion.
After the walk, participants can also experience yoga and singing-bowl sound therapy. Those wishing to join the activities can reserve them when applying for the walking event. The healing programs are limited to 120 participants, and the participation fee is 10,000 won, discounted from the regular price of 24,000 won.
Because the healing programs have fewer spots than the 500 places available for the launch ceremony, those wishing to join both programs should check availability for each when making their reservations.
Nationwide activities will include 'Find It! Kodul Detective,' in which participants identify routes by viewing AI-generated landscapes, and the 'Kodul Stamp Challenge,' which allows participants to enter a prize drawing based on their walking records.
On October 3–5 and 9–11, the 'Walk and Have a Cup of Coffee' event will offer coffee at nearby cafés to those who complete designated routes. The program is designed to let participants explore routes online and enjoy both walking and visits to local cafés on site.
Korea Dulle-gil rest areas nationwide will also offer programs such as the 'Oryukdo Safe Walking Road' in Nam-gu, Busan; the 'Haeporang Shelter Experience' in Dong-gu, Ulsan; and the 'Nature Lover Road' in Goseong County, South Gyeongsang Province.
Kang Jeong-won, Director-General for Tourism Policy at the MCST, said, "We will work to ensure that walking travel leads to the revitalization of local tourism and regional economies."
